McBriare Samuel Lanyon "Mac" DeMarco (built-in Vernor Winfield McBriare Smith IV; April 30, 1990) is a Canadian vocaliser-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer.[3] DeMarco has released six full-length studio albums, his debut Rock and Roll Night Gild (2012), 2 (2012), Salad Days (2014), Another One (2015), This Old Dog (2017), and Here Comes the Cowboy (2019). His style of music has been described as "blueish wave"[four] and "slacker stone",[5] [6] or, past DeMarco himself, "jizz jazz".[7]

Life and career [edit]

1990–2008: Early on life and education [edit]

DeMarco was born in Duncan, British Columbia on Vancouver Island, and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. His great-grandfather is Vernor Smith, Alberta'south former Government minister of Railways and Telephones, for whom DeMarco was named,[8] and his grandfather (also named Vernor Winfield McBriare Smith) was a judge of the Court of Queen'south Bench of Alberta.[9] His female parent, Agnes DeMarco, later inverse his name to McBriare Samuel Lanyon DeMarco, after his father left when Mac was iv and refused to pay kid back up.[10] DeMarco is besides of Italian descent.[11] [12]

DeMarco attended McKernan Schoolhouse for junior high. 2009–2012: Early projects and first solo album [edit]

Living in the Killarney neighbourhood, he released a self-produced anthology, Heat Wave, as a office of the indie rock project Makeout Videotape in 2009. 2017–2018: This Old Dog [edit]

On Jan 31, 2017, DeMarco announced his tertiary studio album, titled This Old Dog. He likewise released two singles from the anthology on the same day.[34] This Old Dog was released on May 5, 2017.[35]
